Solar Dryer for Moringa Leaves made in Burkina Faso
On our visit to Burkina Faso in January, we drove to Roumtenga (13 km from Ouagadougou), to meet with Pr Batiedo Christian Elie of Grace ET Merveille. He and his family have been involved with Moringa for over a decade and have 8 products to their credit.
Not only is he a pastor, but also a trainer, farmer and processor. He showed us his new farm that he started on 15 July 2019. In the photo with Joshua and Moise is Pr Batiebo Christian, his wife and son.
Then he showed us this Solar Dryer which he designed for drying moringa leaves. It is able to dry 6 kg of leaves, and during Harmattan (dry) season the leaves take only 6 hrs to dry. It sells for 90,000-150,000 CFA ($150-$250 USD).
Pastor Batiebo Christian is also a president of an upcoming MORINGA association yet to be launched. They plan to motivate inactive AMH members in Burkina Faso which number close to 500. So we advanced discussion for their association to cooperate on advocacy and promotions with AMH.
