Celebrate Moringa – Day 5

We are delighted to introduce to you from Egypt, the CEO of Calendula Herbs Co, Mr Rabie Mostata, along with co-founder, Dr Elebiary.

And we are so glad that they discovered moringa!

One of the noted achievements of Calendula Herbs is the winning of the World Food Award in 2020 for high-quality, clean processing. (You will see that in the video.)

So as you can see, they are highly esteemed and certified in the growing and processing of dried herbal products. Of course, that includes MORINGA!

In another video from September, Mariana Price (AMH Team Member) has more to say about Calendula Herbs.

We hope you will enjoy and be inspired by their moringa story.

Together we make moringa magnificent in Africa.

How did you discover Moringa?

We know the moringa as a plant after discovering it through the articles and research by Dr. Abu Elfetouh of the Egyptian Scientific Society.

The owner of our company, Mr. Rabie, has been honored as the best farmer by the FAO organization in 2020, as you can see in the video below.

How We’ve Done with Moringa

Moringa can be grown all over the land, but it can be grown on mud land and is most productive and green. There are two production methods of growing moringa: (1) seed production method and (2) vegetative production method.

Seed production has a dual purpose, meaning we take seeds from it, and we also take leaves from it at the end of each year. At distances of 1 meter between the hills and at 2 meters between the rows, the acre needs 2 kilos of seeds for planting, which are harvested twice a year and produce about 500 kilos to 750 kilos per year.

Vegetative production. It is planted at 10:15 cm distances on both sides, the distance between the lines is 60 cm. The acre needs 15:18 kilos of seeds to plant, harvested from 4:5 times per year. Per acre productivity ranges from 1500 kg / 2000 kg. After harvesting, the leaves are marketed in the form of large, crushed, TBC, fine cut, or powder.

We now export moringa and we hope to spread the culture of moringa cultivation, as it has an economic aspect besides its benefits.
