Report from South Africa Organic & Natural Products EXPO

On the weekend of 21-23 October, we at Africa Moringa Hub (AMH Online) had the pleasure of sponsoring and participating in the Organic and Natural Products Expo, which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

We had invited Moringa Producers and Suppliers to join us at the West Africa Business Lounge, and promote their moringa products.

We give you a glimpse of the Expo in this video.

AHM’s Rep, Bernadette Wood, shows us around the Expo.

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) is the export trade support institution under Ghana’s Ministry of trade and industry responsible for facilitating the expo.

Many exhibitors are export ready and are currently positioning themselves for it. Many of the exhibitors in this fast-growing organic and natural products sector beckon consumers with an increasing passion for maintaining their health and rejuvenating the planet earth.

We are happy that African Moringa Hub online is a proactive partner in this big event with over 300 exhibitors.

Our Moringa Story

The world may think that Africa is poor and dying. Sadly, in the past, that is how Africa has been portrayed to the western world.

But we know that is not true. (This Organic and Natural Products Expo is proof of that!) We know that Africa has a wealth of untapped resources, and we at Africa Moringa Hub have discovered one of those resources in the Moringa Tree (often called the Miracle Tree).

This tree has been proven by scientists to be the most nutrient rich plant on earth, and for many years it has been growing under our noses and we never realised what it could do.

While many Africans were starving and dying from various diseases, and while little children were suffering from malnutrition, we did not know we had a cure that was freely growing for us.

But we are thankful that our Creator knew what we needed. Long before he had provided this tree that we call the Miracle Tree – truly a gift from God. And we are grateful to those scientists whom he used to untap its nutritional benefits, and to introduce it to places that needed it most, such as Senegal and other West African countries.

It was 13 years ago now that we were first introduced to the Discovery Channel documentary about the Miracle Tree, which got us excited. We could see so much potential. Like a seed that was sown, this knowledge began to grow and spread across the Internet to many in Africa who also caught the vision and began growing it and seeing results in their households and communities.

Then in May 2016, Africa Moringa Hub was founded. Then in January 2018, AMH was officially recognised as an NGO.

March Madness – Supercharge with Moringa Powder – Part 2

We continued with the Zoom chat with another two guests, followed by a question and answer session.

Sakale Traore, Mali – Mamali Moringa

“From our side we work with rural women in a cooperative. We buy their products from the co-op. And we in turn, explain to them how moringa can be of benefit for them economically, for their bodies, for their well-being, and for their children.”

Ranjith Kumar – India

Ranjith is an organic moringa farmer, producer and marketer. He shared with us his story:

“Actually, I have a high blood pressure, and I face diabetes also, which means during my work in the software industry for 15 years, I had all these issues. I was working day and night, 12 hours a day, and eating for a long time with a bad pain.

“So these days, I have left that job and I started my own organic farming. Now I am taking moringa powder daily in my traditional Indian recipes and in rice, which usually ends up being about 15g of moringa powder daily. I can work 18 hours a day without being tired. So now my health is everything helping me back to normal.

We are grateful to all those who participated in our lively Zoom chat on Moringa Powder – its many benefits, ways to use it, and tips on producing it.

Hester Kinnear, South Africa

HESTER says: “I started my moringa about 7 years ago in Limpopo province at a small village. I’ve planted my own moringa seeds and started growing them and doing my own harvesting. Unfortunately about 5 years ago I had to relocate to Pretoria and couldn’t do my own moringa here anymore. But soon I started to get some growers, mainly from Limpopo, and I am promoting their products.

Abdul Kareem Yasin – Jordan

Abdul Kareem is from Aqaba City in East Jordan on the Red Sea, and he share with us his moringa experience.

Amit Barikeri, India.

We are grateful to have Amit from India join us. He answered a question regarding the dosage of moringa powder.

How Important Moringa Farmers are to Africa

As we look at the world, and disturbing world events, it is easy for us to become discouraged and deeply concerned about the impact this will have on Africa. There is talk of global food shortage and greater effects on our climate. Drought, floods, earthquakes, war, famine, and you name it, are in the mix. How can Africa survive?

In this article, Mariana Price from South Africa, shares how Moringa Farmers can be the lifeblood of Africa.

Celebrating Moringa Peregrina – Interview with Dr Nasab from Jordan

Celebrate Moringa Peregrina

We begin 2022 with another Moringa story from Jordon, but this time it is a different species – Moringa peregrina.

Please meet Dr Nasab Qasim Alrawashdeh who is a Plant Genetic Resources Specialist and Plant Biodiversity, and has done extensive research into Moringa peregrina, a plant that thrives in hot desert regions.

Her research has led her to write various scientific paper, with a number having been published.

Much of her early knowledge comes the Beduin people (Indigenous people of southwest Jordan Wadi Fenan), who have been using Moringa peregrina for centuries.

We are so delighted that she has been willing to share her knowledge with us. Mariana Price interviews her in the videos below. The first video is just in English and the second has Arabic subtitles.

“Let us begin to discover Moringa peregrina.”
