Growing and Spreading Moringa Love in Iraq

Celebrate Moringa – Day 10

Great news from Iraq! Moringa is growing well, thanks to a moringa pioneer, Mari Al-Haram.

Before Mari, who learned about moringa, there was not much known about it in his country. However, after learning about this miracle tree, Mari had to pursue it and plant some in his garden.

He was amazed at how quickly it grew and started to flower and then produce seeds. Now he is able to spread the moringa love in Iraq.

Congratulations, Mari, for a job well done!

Moringa – a wealth in the field of medicine for future generations.

Greetings! My name is Mari Al-Haram from Iraq, Salah Al-Din Governorate. I want to tell you my moringa story.

My Moringa Journey in Iraq

I read several articles about the Moringa tree and watched many videos that talk about its benefits and its entry into several fields, including medicine to treat many diseases, as well as beekeeping. As an amateur tree enthusiast, I have had an interest in planting tree species that were lacking in my area. On discovering the moringa, I knew I had to get this tree at any cost.

One day at the beginning of 2019, I saw a post on Facebook by an agricultural engineer in the area near the district in which I live. He brought moringa seedlings, and I contacted him and bought 30 seedlings from him. I was very happy because I was the first to plant a moringa tree in my area.

I planted ten seedlings in my home and my family’s house, and the rest I donated to my relatives and friends and sold some of it at a very cheap price, and the purpose of that is to spread the Moringa tree in my area and indeed we planted it, thanks to God.

Within two years, the trees became more than three meters high, and the moringa bloomed in the garden of my house, and how happy I was to see butterflies and bees on the flowers of my trees, it is a very beautiful sight.

After a while, the flowers produced moringa pods, and I reaped the seeds and distributed them to agricultural amateurs and beekeepers, and I also supported a master’s student who was searching for the Moringa tree with nearly 2000 seeds. Chronic conditions such as pressure and sugar have proven to help balance blood sugar and pressure in patients.

My Future Moringa

In the near future, I have a project to distribute seeds and seedlings in the spring and distribute them to areas that lack the cultivation of the Moringa tree.

The goal is for people to know it and its many benefits to be a wealth in the field of medicine for future generations.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my journey with Moringa.
