My involvement with Moringa started 6 years ago when I got introduced to the business by my Sister in-law.
Her main business was spices of different kinds. She would send me to bring Moringa, also to a lesser extent with Number 3 meal Moringa leaf. This was part time.
Gradually, I started developing interest and went full time into the business starting with bringing about 50kg of powder rising to 200kg and to about a tonne in the recent past per month. I usually buy for resale to those that buy in bulk. I have had about 6 main clients from Lusaka, Zambia, and a few others in these other provinces.
Apart from the leaf powder, I also bring seed, seed powder and moringa oil. The seed powder is used in the same way as the leaf powder, but the oil is for cosmetics mainly for the hair, and to some extent, for use in massage parlors and for skin ointment for those who develop rashes.
With the ever increasing demand, the business has been paying well.
The Fire
Despite the loss experienced, it is really difficult for me to stay put. I was lucky that for an unknown reason I had decided to keep a few products at home. That has been my point of starting again.
Yes it’s a draw back and very painful thing to start doing it all over again, but I have my uncle in the village to take care of. I have 3 children and also my sister’s children that I help.
It is my hope that I can still stand to just maintain the Clients that I have been supplying. I appreciate so very much the encouragement I’m getting from the the forums on moringa both locally and internationally.
As awareness of moringa increases with resources around moringa is a Nation changing range of products.
In the pictures show the burning of the shops and some of the seed that remained being worked on.
